(This is a channeled post.)

Today’s lesson is about giving and receiving. We can’t give what we don’t receive. When we’re not open to receiving, we cannot give. You have to remember that within the totality of life, you have to give in order to receive. We aren’t going to dwell on this, you will understand soon enough. We are going to mention that you can’t ever receive if you don’t give.

When we look back at our lives, we can see that every time we have received something we have also given in return. It doesn’t matter what you give in return, it could just be a smile. But the important thing is to reciprocate. And the opposite is also true. When you give something you also receive something in return. It could just be a frown. That’s OK. But you have received something. We can’t explain this easily, but giving and receiving is a part of life. It is part of the totality of life. What we can control is how we give and how we receive. This is the important part. When you give and receive with love, the love is reciprocated.

So let’s practice this now. What was the last thing you gave to someone? It could have just been a text message or a thought. Did you give it with Love? And what was the last thing you received from someone? Again, it could have been something like a phone call or a few words. Did you receive them with Love?

Please practice this today. Everything that you give, give with love. And that includes the smallest things, like a thought or a line of text. And when you receive something, receive it with love. Receive it with gratitude and appreciation. This is very important. When you truly understand this, your life will shift.

(I asked for some clarification:)

What if somebody says something hateful to me or is violent toward me? Should I also receive that with love?

You can’t control what other people do to you. The only thing you can control is your reaction. You have to remember that things often don’t happen the way you want them to. Things often can be ugly. That doesn’t mean you can’t still act from love. Receiving with love means acting from love. It means reacting from love. It means reacting from the source of all things. Reacting from God, from your being. This is what we mean by Love.

Sometimes love is fierce. Sometimes love fights. If somebody attacks you that doesn’t mean that you need to lie down and take it. The point is to be connected to the love/being within and act from there.

When something like that happens to you usually there is not even thought. You react from your instinct. And if you practice being connected to Love/source/being in your life, then that is the instinct that you will act from. There are other instincts that you do not want to act from. They are instincts to intentionally hurt people. These are not instincts you want to follow. These are instincts coming from the ugliness of the separate mind. These are coming from the ugliness of hate, the ugliness of pain.
