Ok, so, one of the goals of Ego Rehab is to consciously objectify our egos to create separation from it. One of the first objectification strategies is to name your ego. As I previously explained, I’ve named mine “Little Bitch” after a Byron Katie turnaround. More recently I’ve been developing my super special, highly esoteric ego name formula! Here goes:

Think of the last ugly name you called someone or a habitual insult you call people in your head (or called people in the past). It should preferably be a noun. Then add “Little” in front of it, and voila! If it’s an adjective, turn it into a noun or simply add “brat” after it. Tip: You can switch “Little” around  if it sounds better.

Here’s the ego name formula simplified:

Little + your favorite insult

For example, if you call people “cheap,” your ego name would be “Little Tightwad” or “Little Miser” or “Little Cheap Brat” or “Cheap Little Brat.”

My best friend said she always calls people imbeciles, so her ego name is “Little Imbecile.” She laughed for about 5 minutes when I told her that! 🤣🤣🤣 That’s a good sign that the name is the right fit 😉

Other examples: Little Hypocrite, Little Asshole (another friend said that’s appropriate for her, since she has a small behind), Little Needy Brat, Little Narcissist, Little Jerk

Other Ego Naming Strategies

If the insult name doesn’t resonate with you, here are some other ideas:

  1. If your ego were an archetype, which one(s) would it be? The martyr, the trickster, the hero, the rescuer, the victim, the persecutor, etc. Let that be your ego name. Here’s a list for ideas: https://scottjeffrey.com/archetypes-list/
  2. Or what is your main ego disguise? Complaining, pride, greed, control, etc? Make that your ego name: The Whiner, The Pompous Princess, The Control Freak, The Greedy Bastard, etc. Or add Little in front: Little Whiner, Litrle Pompous Princess, Little Control Freak, Little Greedy Bastard, etc.
  3. If your ego were a cartoon/TV/movie character, which one would it be?
  • Road Runner, always running to the next thing?
  • Bugs bunny, ever the trickster?
  • Tweety, always starting Twitter feuds? 😜
  • SpongeBob, manic?
  • Tasmanian devil, always stirring up trouble?
  • Pepe le Pew, seducer/womanizer/love addict?
  • Homer Simpson, stupid unconscious greedy selfish dude?
  • Lisa Simpson, know it all/smarty pants
  • Bart Simpson, prankster brat?
  • Dr Evil, trying to rule the world with evil?
  • Scrappy Doo, annoying little tough guy?
  • A superhero, out to save the world?
  • The Incredible Hulk, major mood swings/anger issues?

I was watching a movie the other night with some girlfriends and I realized my ego is a Diane Keaton character: insecure, self conscious, a little neurotic with a touch of passive-aggressive anger issues—lol! 😂 So an alternate name for my ego could be Little Miss Keaton.

Or if my victim ego disguise shows up, her name could be Little Victim Bitch. Or if my superior ego disguise shows up, I’ll call her Little Superior Bitch, and so on.

Please share your ego name in the comments!
